The story so far ......
Our founding members, Ann Johnson and Phillippa Mulholland, saw a need for a weekday evening mixed choir for Frodsham and the local area. Zena Phillipou was our first Musical Director. With the emphasis on singing for wellbeing, our first rehearsal took place on 7th October 2019 with twenty seven new members. Just ten weeks later we performed our first Christmas concert. Sixty people came to support us. In March 2020 the Covid19 lockdown halted physical rehearsals so the choir continued on Zoom for a while. In 2021 as the country emerged from lockdown, Zena had additional work commitments and sadly had to resign. We started to look for a new MD and assisted by Matt Baker we had a reply from a guy called Joe.......
2021 - In March Joe Mann became our new MD. Our relaunch evening was held in May and with the help of a National Lottery Grant our outdoor rehearsals began in June 2021 under the cover of the gazebos of Castle Park Arts centre. Lashing rain, passing trains and a tweeting Robin added to the acoustic challenges. We found our permanent indoor space at Main Street Community Chapel by late July. In October we held our first post-covid concert at Castle Park courtyard raising much needed funds for Macmillan. Christmas community gigs followed at Frodsham Festival where we competed against the wind and fairground rides and HoHo Helsby where it hailstoned onto our music folders. Outside seasonal gigging is not great! Our Christmas joint concert was with Helsby Concert Band at St Paul's Church.
2022 - Our first concert of the year was for the Storyhouse and was held in the grounds of Chester Cathedral together with Rock Choir and the Proud Marys who were also on the bill. Following that was a spring concert at Castle Park Arts Centre We sang at the Frodsham's summer celebrations for the Queen's Jubilee and later in August for the Helsby Sports Club Open afternoon. Hugely exciting time in September performing as guests of Victoria Music Ltd in their Elodie tribute at the Brindley theatre to an audience of 400. Then after supporting the local Christmas festivals we held our own Christmas concert at Main Street Church, SOLD out and had a masive night of fun!
In 2023 - April started with a Castle Park Arts Centre gig. Then in May we sang at The Helsby celebrations for the coronation of our new King Charles. The Cheshire show stage in June was amazing and we were so lucky that the rain lashed down only ten minutes after we had finished our set. We were invited to the Open Day for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in June along with the Chester Male Voice Choir. July we sang for Norton Priory's Pride weekend. We sang at the Farndon soap box derby in aid of the Hospice in September, whilst October's gig was for the Octoberfest Charity event. Towards Christmas we sang for the Storyhouse theatre, Norton Priory Christmas Market and the fabulous Arley Hall Festival of flowers before our very own Christmas concert which was sold out within two weeks this time.
2024 - April saw our first Concert of the year at St Lawrences Church, Frodsham, sharing the stage with the Highfield Male Voice Choir. In May we returned to Castle Park to entertain the outside diners at the courtyard cafe. June we returned to the Cheshire Show and July held our own sellout Summer Fizz concert. A further visit to Castle Park in September before starting on our Christmas season repertoire. We were invited back to both Norton Priory Christmas fair and Arley hall Festival of flowers again and then performed our own Christmas concert twice in two different venues as demand for our concert tickets is now outstripping the places available in our wonderful rehearsal rooms at the Main Street Community Church.

2025 - April we kicked off at one of our favorite venues, the Castle Park Arts Centre on a lovely Saturday morning 11's session. In June we returned to the Cheshire Show Ground for two performances on the Village stage. Later in June we sang at the inaugural Frodsham Food festival in Catle Park and again In early July we were invited to perform at the Town Councils Annual Festival in the Park and downhill run. Later on 18th July was one of the most exciting events, a three choir concert of all of the choirs run by our amazing Musical Director Joe Mann. One Voice together with the Fireflies Ladies Choir from Ellesmere Port and The Chester Male Voice Choir had a spectacular evening of song from each choir and a finale of joint voices from all the choirs raising the roof at the historic Chester Town Hall. Joe had to conduct 28 performance pieces and worked really hard all evening. In September our first engagement for the Chester Bandstand by the River was cancelled owing to the stormy weather that week-end. Hopefully, we can perform there in 2026. Our Christmas season started at the Norton Priory Christmas fair and a week later on 30th Nov we sang at the beautiful Tatton Park Farm. The following weekend we sang to the visitors of Chester Cathedral's Christmas Tree Festival on the Saturday followed by two performances on the Sunday at Arley Hall's Festival of Flowers. This time in the beautiful Chapel on the Arley Estate. Our final outing of the year was for our own annual Christmas Concert, held this year at The Forest Hills Hotel. One of the few venues in the area to be able to accomodate a choir of almost 50 performers plus over 160 guests. Finally we had the biggest best night at our Christmas Party with a buffet, standup bingo, a festive quiz and a lively Karaoke night. Work hard and party hard #morethanjustachoir.
